8th November, 2011.Beachy Head. Overcast dull with drizzle. E 1-2

Arrived in very dull weather and it took ages to get light. Covered most of the sites on the Head but very little in the way of diurnal migration and hardly any birds seen 0n the Headland.
RDME was ringing in Whitbread Hollow and the following are our combined sightings with birds ringed in brackets:

Little Egret 2 W off Birling
Grey Heron 1 came in low over the cliffs & departed inland.
Brent Goose 70 W
Common Scoter 3 on the sea
Woodcock 1 in the Hollow
Sparrowhawk 1
Peregrine 3
Tawny Owl 2
Great Spotted Woodpecker 2
Rock Pipit 1
Black Redstart 1
Ring Ouzel 1 in the Hollow
Blackbird 56 (11) Influx noted
Song Thrush 5 (2, 1 of which was a continental bird).
Goldcrest 5 (1)
Firecrest 1 (1)
Raven 2
Goldfinch 150 E
Redpoll 2
Bullfinch 4 (3)

Gorse in full flower at Birling

ichneumon fly sp. taken on the 6th November.
