1st March 2014 Beachy Head Fine sunny and mild NW 1 to 2

We did a sea-watch from 08.10-08.40 but again virtually no movement recorded. We then covered all the main birding sites on the Headland.

Red-throated Diver 3 W
Little Egret 1 came in from the sea at Birling.
Curlew 5 W
Herring Gull 200 mainly juvs. drifted W
Rock Pipit 1
Stonechat 3 all females
Song Thrush 1
Raven 1 pair
Linnet 7 (our first for the year)
Corn Bunting 1 singing Cornish Farm lane.

Wood Violets large clump out

The crack in the cliffs at Birling is becoming more extensive
and now running down the cliff face.

The old Birling Gap Hotel partly boarded up.


Rock Pipit at Birling.


Wood Violets nice clump now out.
