Beachy Head 14th August, 2009.

Record shot of a Lesser Whitethroat in the mist in Whitbred Hollow.

Another record shot of a Green Woodpecker in Cow Gap.

Arrived with Doreen at 06.20 hrs to a misty, cool, morning with a stiff breeze. As it is the Eastbourne Air show weekend, decided to walk Cow Gap & Whitbred Hollow first in case there are car parking restrictions later. Walked down into Cow Gap and out of the mist. Very few migrants seen until I was in the Hollow when I came across good numbers of both Common & Lesser Whitethroats above the ringing hut. Back at the car it was still very misty and drove to Shooters Bottom where I met up with RKH. We then birded Birling Gap but very few migrants present and with the mist still persisting, we decided to call it a day. Migrants seen:

Sedge Warbler 1
Reed Warbler 1
Lesser Whitethroat 12
Common Whitethroat 40
Garden Warbler 2
Blackcap 1
Willow Warbler 3
