Beachy Head 1st August, 2009.

Everlasting Pea at Birling

Arrived with DC at 06.20 hrs. to an overcast, warm and calm morning. Looked good conditions for a reasonable fall of migrants but after walking the lane at Birling we were soon disappointed. Walked the area during the next four hours and had a chat with RHC in Shooters Bottom, and briefly saw RKH & RES on our return. RDME & members of the BHRG were erecting their mist-nets in Whitbred Hollow to commence the Autumn ringing hopefully from tomorrow.
Generally fewer migrant warblers seen today.

Common Whitethroat 45
Lesser Whitethroat 2
Grasshopper Warbler 3 (including a single bird seen by RKH & RES in Shooters Bottom).

Also an adult Cuckoo in Whitbred Hollow, 13 Sand Martins, 55 House Martins West (in 2 parties), & 10+ Swifts.
1 Little Egret was feeding on Cow Gap beach.
